CFP Board Expands Mentor Program for Candidates for CFP® Certification
Program Broadens Networking Opportunities for Thousands of Professionals in Search of Mentorship on their Path to CFP® Certification
Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards, Inc. (CFP Board) today announced the launch of an updated Mentor Program, designed to connect individuals pursuing CFP® certification with current CFP® professionals for guidance and support as they navigate their path to certification.
The refreshed Mentor Program broadens the scope of the CFP Board’s WIN-to-WIN Mentor Program, which launched two years ago with a focus on women, to include all candidates for CFP® certification. To date, the WIN-to-WIN Mentor Program has provided more than 1,600 mentor-mentee engagements from 700 women mentors, who have served as guides, offering practical advice based on their experience taking the CFP® exam and pursuing careers in the financial planning profession.
“The WIN-to-WIN Mentor Program paired candidates with established financial planning professionals to guide them through the rigorous process of CFP® certification,” said Kevin R. Keller, CAE, CEO of CFP Board. “Because of its successes, and the integral role mentors play in a profession, we expanded the program to pair mentees and mentors of all genders based on similar goals and interests.”
Building off the success of the WIN-to-WIN Mentor Program, the updated Mentor Program furthers CFP Board’s commitment to growing the number of female CFP® professionals as well as increasing diversity across racial lines to grow the next generation of CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professionals.
The program is hosted on a new technology platform, allowing mentors and mentees to create enhanced profiles to help them better connect. Mentors and mentees can now add a photo and details to their profile as well as include a link to their LinkedIn profile, and mentors can request mentees directly – enabling mentors and mentees to establish a stronger, more powerful connection and relationship.
